You'll notice several things. One, this was a private conversation approximately 12 years ago appears to be brought up just to smear him. This video was not a big deal before now and there are reasons why.
1. The context is not included. He says, "And when you're a star they will let you do anything. Grab them by the pussy." Now i could argue that a more accurate word would be that they tolerate star's action, but i don't think that's speaking towards the truth. And the truth is sadly, that oftentimes women will let a star do anything for the chance of a lifetime, or so they consider it. The popularity of kanye's track gold digger would support this argument as well. Beautiful women offering up there bodies in hopes that the star might choose them happens. And it sucks, because the stars typically aren't the loving wonderful humans that they were hoped to be. Instead, due to their money and fame, they are treated as more than or less than human depending on how you look at it. I imagine Donald must have encountered this scenario enough times that this is his truth. Women would let him kiss them, grab their pussies. And i bet they would do it with a smile, even if it hurt so bad because they were so hungry to share in that fame and wealth and spotlight, that they were willing to put their values aside.
2. Look at his actual behavior. If you listen to the audio and then watch his body language, He is neutral, formal, and quite un-aggressive actually. Also, it is not Donald that asks for a hug, but the creepy dude next to him. Donald extended a formal handshake and then put his arms back down by his side. He did not go for a hug until after she asked him if he would like a hug and he said yes. And then!! He says that "Melania says it's ok" while giving a very polite hug, showing respect to his wife.
Being raised as a white male in rural schools filled with other white males that were mostly pretty conservative, I learned that you will be severely made fun of if you didn't have anything cool to say in the locker room. And cool meant talking about chicks, bitches, hoes, any other degrading term and how you hit that, or fucked that, or she sucked my dick. Women in locker rooms are treated as trophies that we are simultaneously proud of and look down upon. Yet if you watch all of these men/boys interact with these different women when it is just the two of them, you will most likely find that they are probably polite, loving, generous, and caring. Which means that locker room talk is primarily there for the ego's survival. The mind believes that if it doesn't fit in with the culture it will literally die. Actual reality is more likely just picked on and outcasted from the social group.
So all i see here is a guy who probably really loves his wife and daughters, who was raised in a pretty typical way according to his environment behaving exactly as we could expect.
So perhaps it's time to look at the bigger issue. My guess is that Donald was raised by his family, his peers, and his society in a way that it would not only ok, but encouraged to fill this role that was built for him. People signed up to be his apprentice and be on tv, and be fired and that show was popular! He is simply a product of the system in place. And according to results and his response, he seems to be pretty sensitive to attacks. Honestly, I feel a lot more compassion for Donald than anything.
Maybe instead of chanting love trumps hate and body shaming the guy, we would just stop hating trump and love on him a bit. I'm guessing he could use it. Hell, we all could use some loving.
